Online Dispute Resolution and Stress
How becoming a mindful mediator can improve your ODR practice.
Facilitated by Nicole Aylwin, Mediator & Yoga Therapist
COVID 19 has catapulted us into a brave new world of online dispute resolution and often not by choice.
While online dispute resolution (ODR) can offer many benefits and opportunities for both the mediator and the parties, this rapid transition to ODR also presents new stressors that affect not only the parties but also the mediator and the mediation.
Zoom fatigue, playing tech support, managing access concerns, learning how to ‘read’ people on video, working with new systems, facilitating text-based mediation, and difficulty leaving the conflict ‘at the office’ when there is no office – can all tire you out and create stress responses in our body and mind.
How you deal with these stressors will impact your mediation.
In this interactive 2-part workshop you will learn how the evidence-based practice of mindfulness can help you better manage the big and small stressors that come with resolving disputes online and make you a more mindful online mediator.
Learn why mindfulness can improve your response to stressful situations and make you a better communicator and ODR professional.
Learn the science of stress – how it affects your body, decision making process, and different aspects of online dispute resolution.
Understand your own stress response patterns and leave with a toolbox of mindfulness techniques that will help you better manage the stress of resolving disputes online.
If you want to better understand how mindfulness tools can help you better respond to stress so that you can become a better communicator, listener and mediator online register now!
